In just the past few days, this Prayer Team has been put in the crosshairs – by angry people e-mailing or posting us, demanding to know why Christian clergy and organized prayer have been left out of the upcoming 9-11 remembrance ceremonies.
Because our name is The Presidential Prayer Team, we often get confused as an organization that operates out of the White House. This has never been the case in our almost decade-long history. We are a totally independent, non-governmental and non-denominational non-profit ministry dedicated to helping you and all Americans fulfill the biblical mandate to pray for those in leadership.
Certainly, we wholeheartedly agree and desire that the Obama administration and organizers of the 9-11 remembrance ceremonies should allow and champion Christian prayer. But this is not something we can control or dictate. Yet we also know that Luke 19:40 declares that when attempts are made to silence praises to God, even “the rocks will cry out” – meaning the least obvious, lifeless objects would declare His glory!
That’s why this Prayer Team – the single largest 24/7 prayer initiative in the nation – will lead the way with an all day, all night prayer program on September 11 – a full 24 hours of prayer in all United States time zones.
